The site was purchased for £9.25m from Parritt Leng Construction & Management Limited and 8 Wyndham Road Ltd in June 2014. It was sold with planning permission for 82 homes and new commercial space.
Located at 166-176a Camberwell Road, the development will comprise 58 private rent and sale homes and 14 shared ownership homes sold by the FABRICA by A2Dominon brand. As part of the deal, 8 Wyndham Road Limited will retain one block of six private sale units.
There will also be 222sqm of retail space and 516sqm for an artists’ studio/gallery.
Arranged over five new buildings, the scheme will range from four to nine storeys in height and will include a public square, play area and seven disabled car parking spaces.
Karen Green, Assistant Development Director, said: “The acquisition of this Camberwell Road scheme supports our development strategy to build 900 new homes this year, including a significant proportion of private rented mes at our schemes across London and the South East.
“It also represents our second development in the London Borough of Southwark, where we have recently been confirmed as a preferred local authority partner.
“With contractor PLCM (UK) Ltd starting work on site this month, the scheme will be due for completion in summer 2016.”
Camberwell Road is one of a number of recently-acquired sites, and A2Dominion is seeking further strategic land opportunities in prime sites across London and the South East.
