Jump on the tube in no time Wait, Camberwell has a tube station? Well, no, strictly speaking. But Wyndham Sudios is on the right side of the neighbourhood for accessing Oval’s northern line. Roughly a 15-minute walk away (0.9 miles), it’s a swift 5-minute ride to Waterloo, 7 minutes to London Bridge, or 9 minutes to Bank. You can also be in Old Street in under a quarter of an hour and King’s Cross St Pancras in less than 20 minutes. That’s a whole lot of main London stations within your reach, which opens up your options even more.
Overground access Head 0.9 miles in the opposite direction and you’ll find Denmark Hill’s overground station, with rail options to boot. From here, Camberwell has city-goers sorted. You can be in London Victoria in just 11 minutes, London Blackfriars or Clapham Junction in 12 and Shoreditch High Street in 22 minutes.
Trains to everywhereAs well as Denmark Hill, Loughborough Junction and Elephant and Castle Station are also nearby, both just over a mile away from Wyndham Studios. From Loughborough Junction, you can be at City Thameslink Station in 11 minutes or St Pancras International in 18 minutes. From Elephant and Castle, it’s 21 minutes to Paddington station or an 11-minute ride to Oxford Circus, for all the shops your heart desires.
Buses from your doorstep Most bus journeys into central London start on Camberwell Road – that’s right on your doorstep. So you can jump on a bus and enjoy a dream of a commute, or roll in after a Peckham night out without barely walking two steps.
Catch the 35 to be in London Bridge in 22 minutes or Shoreditch in half an hour. The 176 or 68 bus is just a 20-minute ride to Waterloo. The 12 or 171 gets you to Peckham in a quarter of an hour and it’s the no.45 for a 20-minute journey to Brixton.
Walk or cycle Keen to avoid public transport (and burn off a few calories while you’re at it)? With its zone 2 location, you’ll quickly realise that much of the city is actually within the walking or cycling distance. Both Waterloo and London Bridge are just 2 miles away – around a 45-minute walk. So you can easily while away a Saturday afternoon with a stroll to Borough Market. Continue for 15 minutes more – as you admire the view over Southwark Bridge – and you’ll find yourself in Bank.
For Cyclists, two wheels will get you pretty much anywhere in the capital without having to pedal far. Hyde Park is just a 17-minute ride away and even reaching Kings Cross – on the other side of London – will take just 25 minutes.
So whether you choose to ride, cycle, or run your way through the city, Camberwell makes the perfect base. Although not confirmed, there’s even a proposed Bakerloo line extension to serve Camberwell – so here’s hoping for even more transport options in the future.
